How scoring works
Predict the score of every match before it kicks off. Points are awarded automatically, and departments are compared on an average, so a big team cannot simply out-number a small one.
Points per match
| Result vs. your prediction | Points |
|---|---|
| Exact final score | 5 |
| Correct goal difference (not a draw) | 3 |
| Correct outcome (home / draw / away) | 2 |
| Wrong | 0 |
One tier per match — the best you reach
The tiers are mutually exclusive: you get the highest one your prediction earns, not the sum. Predicting 2–1 in a match that ends 2–1 is 5 points, not 5 + 3 + 2.
Draws are the one special case: only the exact score scores 5. There is no goal-difference tier for a draw, because every draw has the same goal difference.
Regular time only
Predictions are settled on the 90 minutes plus stoppage time. Extra time and penalties do not count, so a knockout tie that is level after 90 minutes is a draw for scoring purposes. The prediction screen says so before you commit.
Later rounds are worth more
A stage multiplier applies: group-stage matches count once, earlier knockout rounds and the third-place match double, and the semi-finals and final triple. The multiplier is shown before kick-off and is never applied retroactively.
Departments are compared fairly, whatever their size
For each finished match, a department scores the AVERAGE points of the members who actually predicted that match. Those per-match averages are then added up across the season.
Two consequences worth knowing. A department of 40 has no advantage over a department of 12 — averages, not totals. And a colleague who joins in November does not drag the team down: nobody counts on matches they were not there for.
Join any time
Scoring runs from the point your group starts, and every match stays open until its own kick-off. Someone joining mid-season can still win the rounds that are left.
Points are only points
There is no stake, no odds and no money in play. Points cannot be bought, transferred or exchanged for anything, and badges and achievements are recognition only — they award no points and never move the ranking.
A worked example: 12 people against 40
One matchweek, one match. Sales has 40 people, Finance has 12. Not everyone predicts every match — here 30 of Sales did, and 9 of Finance.
| Finance (12) | Sales (40) | |
|---|---|---|
| Predicted this match | 9 | 30 |
| Exact score — 5 pts | 2 | 4 |
| Right goal difference — 3 pts | 3 | 8 |
| Right outcome — 2 pts | 2 | 10 |
| Wrong — 0 pts | 2 | 8 |
| Total points | 23 | 64 |
| Department score (average) | 2.56 | 2.13 |
Sales scored nearly three times as many raw points and still lost the matchweek: 23 ÷ 9 = 2.56 beats 64 ÷ 30 = 2.13. That is the whole idea — the department that predicts better wins, not the one that is bigger.
